Dallas Wedding Story of Emily and David

Hey everybody!

I feel a monster post coming on. :) Let's get right to the photos and story of Emily and David's Dallas wedding.

Here's Momma (who I ADORE!) finishing up Emily's divine dress…



This was so cute… Emily had snacks and games to entertain her girls. Connect Four? Yes please!


Then it was time to get down to business.





A short car ride, and then an elevator ride, and we arrived at the reception.

Emily had such a fun time during her first dance with her husband, David.


But a Dad is the master when knowing how to get a girl to laugh.



One of the bridesmaids had to leave the next morning for a YEAR-LONG mission trip across the world. Meredith captured this poignant, bittersweet moment.

I've been having some really great luck with grooms lately. David lived on the dance floor.


Emily told me that the number one thing she wanted on her wedding day was for her guests to feel like it was a great party. She told me near the end of the night that her dream came true. I agree. They had a great time!



And her dad (who is two-parts funny and three-parts silly) continued to crack me up all night with his stellar dance skills.


Such a sweet family!

Dallas Wedding Portraits of Emily and David!

Hey everybody!

Today I want to share Emily and David's wedding portraits with you! We shot that at the church, both after their first meeting, and then after their ceremony. We like shooting these multiple mini-sessions on the wedding day because it's too dang hot to hang around outside for very long.

This one is my favorite - it's not a typical pose of ours, which is maybe part of why I like it, but I think it's just because they look SO.VERY.HAPPY!! Seriously, don't they???




I love the light after the ceremony. Yay!


They even had a rad Rolls Royce to shoot by in the late hours of the evening…

Emily and David's Dallas Wedding Details

Hey everybody!

My very favorite part of being a wedding photographer is getting to know and become buds with our clients. When you have clients like Emily and David, becoming friends is the simplest of tasks. They are both so genuine, so sweet.

Actually, I met Emily a couple years ago. She's been a bridesmaid in a couple weddings and she and I really hit it off (again, kinda hard not to)!

When Emily got engaged, her mom surprised her by booking us - and let me just say, her mom is probably the coolest mom out there (not just because of her thoughtfulness, but because she's as fun and sweet as they come)! I had been looking forward to photographing the wedding for so long. Not because it was sure to be fabulous. Not because we got to go to Dallas. But because I wanted to hang out with Emily and her family!

But alas, the wedding WAS fabulous, as shown by her lovely details. Starting with her dress.







She incorporated navy into her color story (I remembered her mentioning this at Lauren and Ryan's wedding so I wore a matching tie - check the blog in a couple days for that)



Her reception details were equally, or maybe even more, fabulous…

To See or Not To See??

Hey everybody!

Over the next few days, I get to share a truly great day with y'all! David and Emily's Dallas wedding had amazing details and super sweet moments that I can't wait to share, but first I want to discuss their first meeting.

99 percent of our couples ask us whether they should see each other before the wedding and have a special first meeting moment. I could almost answer this one in my sleep. But I'll let Emily and David's faces to the talking for me.
Sure, they were no longer a ball of nerves... Sure, they got all the pictures out of the way before the wedding... Sure, they got to just go hang out with their friends and family after the wedding instead of dragging them all back inside for more... But look at how special this moment is!





Even more than her reaction, I love his...


We'd never make a bride and groom see each other before if they didn't want to. We totally respect our clients' wishes, but if you're a bride struggling with this, check out other benefits of seeing each other before the wedding ceremony. Benfield Photography's New Chica!

Hi!

Along with the wonderful Lauren, I will also be making guest appearances on the blog every now and then so I think we should be buds and you should get to know me a bit! First off... I'm the new chica around Benfield Photography. I joined Dale and the crew a few months back, and I have LOVED every second so far. (Those of you who know these ridiculously talented and fun photographers/friends understand why!)

Im a senior at the U of A. GO HOGS!
I love photography and art. Of course.
I will be doing Senior Sessions and working on some super sweet products for our High School Seniors! WOOP!

Oh, and last but not least... In about 3 weeks I will be marrying the love of my life and best friend, Josh! The countdown has begun!

Jamie + Josh's Peabody Wedding in Little Rock

Hey everybody!

Long tables are my new fave! Fun to shoot and they make such a cool statement at the reception.


This idea was so great! She had her guests sign postcards from either Arkansas or Texas (where they live) so they could read the messages when they got back. Isn't that so fun???
